Installation & System Requirements
The following are the system requirements for ExpanDrive.
Windows
ExpanDrive runs on 32 and 64-bit Windows 7 and newer, including Windows 8, Windows 10, and Windows Server Edition (including Terminal Server). You must have Administrator permissions, or somebody who can provide it to you, in order to complete installation. However, once installation is complete you can use ExpanDrive without Administrator permissions and you can also use the built-in auto-updater.
On Windows you have two different options to pick from for installer packages. Most people should pick the "User Installer" package, which is the default package. This installer loads the application inside the user profile and allows for seamless auto-updates.
MSI Installer
If you're looking to deploy on a multi-user system, we also offer an MSI based installer, which installs into C:\Program Files
by default, but doesn't provide an auto-update mechanism. This is meant for multi-user systems or automatic deploys.
macOS
ExpanDrive supports any macOS environment running OS X 10.10 or newer.
Linux
ExpanDrive supports all modern 64-bit desktop Linux environments.
We provide 4 types of packages for installation:
.deb packages, for Debian & Ubuntu based distros
.rpm packages, for RHEL/Fedora/Centos based distros
.aur package, maintained by the community in the aur package repo
.appImage, for other types of installs
